Gameplay Footage Emerges of Reportedly Cancelled Assassin's Creed Game 'Destiny'

Footage of a reportedly cancelled Assassin's Creed game, codenamed Destiny and set in ancient China, has surfaced online. The leaked clips reveal gameplay mechanics including stealth assassinations, the series' signature 'leap of faith' maneuver, and a distinctive spinning umbrella weapon.

According to reports, Assassin's Creed Destiny was in development at Tencent-owned TiMi Studio Group, known for its work on the mobile title Assassin's Creed Jade. The leaked material appears to originate from portfolios of individuals who worked on the project, with most footage stemming from a prototype created in February 2025. The game was reportedly set in 206 BCE, a period shortly after the events of Assassin's Creed Jade, which is set in 215 BCE.

The narrative shown in the footage centers on a female assassin infiltrating a palace under siege by the warlord Xiang Yu in pursuit of a mysterious artifact. An early boss encounter featuring the warlord himself is also visible. Other segments demonstrate a male character utilizing parkour to eliminate enemies and a player character employing a spinning umbrella as a weapon, complemented by in-game icons for ink-brush abilities and a health bar.

This reveal follows a March mention of 'several other projects currently in the works' by Ubisoft, including Codename Jade. While talk of bringing co-op back to the Assassin's Creed series was present, specific details regarding Jade's release remain scarce. The week has also seen further negative developments for Ubisoft, with a proposal to close Finnish studio RedLynx, creators of the Trials series, and significant layoffs at Ubisoft Singapore, the studio behind Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced.
