GameStop has launched a new partnership with Uber Eats, enabling customers to order a range of products, including video games, consoles, and collectibles, for delivery.

The service is accessible through the Uber Eats app by navigating to the "Retail" or "Electronics" sections and searching for GameStop. Available inventory will vary by local store, but selections may include newly released games, consoles such as the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, as well as merchandise and other items. Similar to food orders, customers can choose immediate delivery or schedule a specific time, with real-time driver tracking available. A delivery fee, noted as $6 in one instance, applies to these orders.

GameStop joins a growing list of retailers on Uber Eats, which includes other major chains like Best Buy, Home Depot, PetSmart, and Target.

In separate but related news, GameStop CEO Ryan Cohen's pursuit of eBay for $56 billion continues, despite eBay's stated intention not to sell. Cohen has indicated the possibility of a hostile takeover and has suggested that video games could be a significant part of his strategy for eBay should he succeed.

GameStop's business model has seen a shift, with a greater focus on collectibles rather than physical game sales. This strategic pivot may explain the company's stock price resilience following Sony's announcement that it plans to discontinue physical game discs by 2028. The news did not negatively impact GameStop's stock; instead, it saw an increase, potentially due to the decreasing proportion of software revenue in the company's overall business.
