Microsoft has officially unveiled the achievement list for the highly anticipated Gears of War: E-Day. Among the extensive array of challenges, one stands out for its distinct pop culture reference: an achievement titled "HEY NOW, YOU’RE AN ALL STAR..." which requires players to secure 25,000 kills in the game's Versus multiplayer mode and grants 25 Gamerscore. This particular achievement is a direct homage to the 2001 animated film Shrek, which prominently featured Smash Mouth's hit song "All Star."
The most demanding achievement appears to be "Dead Serious." To unlock this, players must complete the entire campaign on the Insane difficulty, achieve 25,000 kills in Versus multiplayer, reach the maximum player level, and fully upgrade four distinct classes. This comprehensive challenge rewards players with 85 Gamerscore.
This year marks a significant anniversary for both Xbox and the Shrek franchise, with both celebrating 25 years. The original Shrek movie saw a theatrical re-release this past summer, and the character has made appearances in various video games. Xbox's 25th anniversary is also overshadowed by recent major company decisions, including widespread layoffs and studio closures.
Gears of War: E-Day is slated for release on October 6 for Xbox Series X|S and PC. Early access will be available starting October 1 for those who purchase a premium edition. The game will also be accessible on Xbox Game Pass from day one. Reports suggest that a PlayStation 5 version was canceled shortly before its intended announcement, a claim that Microsoft has publicly denied.
