Gears of War: E-Day Hit by DDoS Attacks, Studio Confirms

Players attempting to access Gears of War: E-Day's online services have been experiencing significant disruptions, including intermittent disconnects and login problems. The Coalition, the game's developer, has confirmed that these issues stem from distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks targeting the game's online infrastructure.

In a statement shared via the official Gears of War community X account, the studio addressed the disruptions, stating, "Our teams are continuing to monitor and mitigate this activity. We'll provide updates if there are any significant changes. Thank you for your patience and understanding."

The Xbox Support account later confirmed that service had returned to normal, noting, "Service for Gears of War: E-Day is back to normal. Thanks for your patience while we worked to resolve the issue."

Initial reports of login issues and server outages began to surface yesterday, with many players unable to access the game, even its campaign mode, due to the server instability. While some reports suggested resolutions earlier today, user feedback indicated that problems persisted for many.

This spate of online attacks follows similar incidents affecting other titles earlier this year, including Arc Raiders, The Finals, and Final Fantasy 14, highlighting an ongoing challenge for game developers and players alike. Despite these technical difficulties, Gears of War: E-Day has received positive critical reception, with Eurogamer awarding it four stars in its review, praising its blend of classic Gears gameplay with forward-looking elements.
