Gears of War: E-Day is set to launch on PC via Steam, offering players a choice beyond the Xbox storefront. The game will be exclusive to PC and Xbox Series X|S platforms, but PC gamers will be able to add the prequel to their Steam libraries.
The pricing for Gears of War: E-Day will remain consistent across platforms. The Standard Edition is priced at $70, and the Premium Edition costs $100. Both editions will be available day one for Xbox Game Pass subscribers.
The Steam version is slated to unlock simultaneously with the official Xbox releases. Owners of the Premium Edition will gain early access starting October 1, with the Standard Edition becoming available on October 6. Information regarding PC system requirements can be found in a separate guide.
Preordering the game on Steam will grant players an Exfil Dom Character Skin and the Exfil Weapon Skin Set, which will be unlocked in-game at launch.
The Premium Edition of Gears of War: E-Day includes the same digital bonuses regardless of the platform it is purchased on. These bonuses encompass five days of early access, two character skins and poses, the Death's Rendezvous legendary weapon skin set, the Emergence Omen weapon skin set, an Emergence Omen banner and emblem, the Bravo Squad signature weapon pack, 1,000 Iron premium in-game currency, and four seasonal customization packs.
Microsoft has stated that Gears of War: E-Day is fully optimized for PC gaming handhelds such as the Steam Deck and Xbox Ally. However, its specific Steam Deck compatibility rating—Verified, Playable, or Unsupported—has not yet been determined. Historically, Xbox Game Studios titles have generally performed well on the Steam Deck with minimal user adjustments.
Several other titles from the Gears of War franchise are available on Steam. These include Gears of War: E-Day, Gears of War: Reloaded, Gears 5, and Gears Tactics. Notably absent from Steam are Gears of War 2 and Gears of War 3, which have remained console exclusives since their original releases, as well as Gears of War 4.
