Sucker Punch Productions has announced the Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition, set to launch on October 1. This new package will include a substantial narrative expansion, a challenging new combat mode, and various quality-of-life improvements for the PlayStation 5 exclusive.
The narrative expansion, titled Ghost of Yōtei: Echoes of Sekigahara, will weave together present-day events with flashbacks to the past. Players will encounter Nagato, a character from Atsu's history, in the present day while exploring a new valley once controlled by The Snake and his gang. The past segments will depict Atsu's experiences during the Battle of Sekigahara and a pivotal moment before her quest for vengeance. This expansion will introduce new enemies, heavy weapons, armor sets, and dyes.
Accompanying the story content is a new single-player survival mode called Ghost of Yōtei: Most Wanted. Described as the game's take on a roguelike, players will accept bounties to begin runs, earning perks by defeating enemies. The mode will also allow for the unlocking of additional playable characters, including Atsu with dual katanas, Oyuki with a kusarigama, and Nagato with a yari.
The Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition will be available for $69.99 and includes both Echoes of Sekigahara and Most Wanted, alongside the base game and the online co-op mode, Ghost of Yōtei Legends. Players who purchase the Complete Edition will have immediate access to the main game and Legends, with the new expansion and survival mode arriving via patch on October 1. The Complete Edition also bundles all content previously found in the Ghost of Yōtei Digital Deluxe Edition, along with the Charm of Hokkyokusei. An early unlock of the Sakai Armor for Atsu, a callback to Jin's family armor from Ghost of Tsushima, will be granted to those who purchase by September 30.
Existing owners of Ghost of Yōtei can acquire Echoes of Sekigahara and Most Wanted through the Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition Upgrade, priced at $14.99. The Complete Edition will feature new music tracks for Watanabe Mode, new photo mode stamps, additional cosmetics for New Game+, and new Trophies for both new content additions.
A free patch for all Ghost of Yōtei owners, releasing on October 1, will introduce the Beauty of Yōtei mode, offering a screensaver-like view of the Ezo environment for relaxation and photo capture. This update also brings quality-of-life enhancements such as the ability to maintain an armor set's appearance while using different stats, and a new high contrast accessibility option.
Ghost of Yōtei achieved 3.3 million sales in its initial month, with Sony previously stating it outsold its predecessor, Ghost of Tsushima, during the same period and significantly contributed to financial results.
