God of War 3 Now Playable on PC Thanks to Fan Port

PC players can now experience the brutal revenge quest of Kratos in God of War 3 natively, thanks to an ambitious fan port. Developer Felipe Prado has released an unofficial port of God of War 3 Remastered, making the 2010 PS3 title playable on Windows computers. This project allows for keyboard and mouse controls, supports increased frame rates, and is compatible with mods.

Prado reported an average of 144 FPS at 1080p and 108 FPS at 4K when using an AMD RX 6700 XT graphics card. The port does not distribute the game itself; players will need to provide their own PS4 copy of God of War 3. Instead of emulation, the port translates PS4 instructions for the PC's CPU. While still in alpha with potential for graphical issues and bugs, the achievement brings a significant title to a new audience.

God of War 3 originally launched on the PlayStation 3 in 2010 before receiving a PlayStation 4 remaster. The game follows Kratos' violent campaign against the gods of Olympus.

This fan effort arrives at a time when Sony appears to be scaling back its PC port strategy for first-party single-player games. Without official releases from Sony, fan-driven projects like this may become the primary avenue for PC gamers to access some of the PlayStation’s most acclaimed titles. The official PC releases of God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarok highlight the demand, while the original Greek trilogy remains absent from the PC platform.
