Sony Santa Monica and PlayStation Studios have announced that God of War Laufey will launch exclusively for the PlayStation 5 on February 16, 2027. This new entry in the series will shift focus from Kratos to Faye, who, following her death at the start of 2018's God of War, was transported to the Everywhen, the afterlife for gods.
This marks a significant departure for the franchise, as God of War Laufey will incorporate deities from mythologies beyond Greek and Norse. The game is also set to feature a faster-paced combat system compared to recent installments. Faye will be voiced by Deborah Ann Woll, known for her role in Daredevil: Born Again, and she will be joined by Jack Quaid as Phranque, a cosmic cube character. Both actors, along with director Cory Barlog and Kratos voice actor Christopher Judge, appeared at a San Diego Comic-Con 2026 panel to discuss the project.
The February 2027 release window is shaping up to be highly competitive, with God of War Laufey now set to launch alongside other anticipated AAA titles. These include Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, Persona 4 Revival, and Fable. For PS5 owners, the new God of War title is expected to be a primary draw.
In addition to God of War Laufey, Sony Santa Monica is also developing further God of War games that will star Kratos, including a remake of the original Greek trilogy. God of War Laufey will receive a physical release.
