This visual is particularly noteworthy because Laufey is presumed dead and separated from Kratos, and her story has never involved Ancient Greece, a period of Kratos's life that predates their meeting. The screenshot thus prompts speculation about the game's plot and the nature of Kratos's appearance.
Fans have previously seen Kratos in early footage of God of War Laufey. He was first shown burning Laufey's body on a funeral pyre, an event that occurred at the beginning of the 2018 God of War. Laufey later awakens in the Everywhen, an afterlife dimension for deities across mythologies, where Kratos briefly visits her.
