Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered is set to launch on November 3, a date that places it in the same month as Rockstar's highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6. However, the development team at Pipeworks and publisher Atari have stated that the release of GTA 6 was not a consideration when choosing the date for their remaster.

Senior designer Simon Strange of Pipeworks told IGN that the internet's reaction and memes surrounding the proximity of the two game releases were amusing but that the decision was driven by other factors. "Honestly, wasn't even in our heads at all when we were picking the release date," Strange said. He clarified that if Atari had expressed concerns about potential sales impact due to GTA 6, that discussion would have occurred, but it never did.

The chosen November 3 release date holds significance as it aligns with "Godzilla Day," the anniversary of the original film's 1954 release. Strange emphasized that honoring this date was a matter of respect for the Godzilla intellectual property. "Putting it on Godzilla's birthday, that's just respectful," he explained. The date was finalized after Pipeworks secured its contract with Atari and established a manufacturing timeline for physical copies.

While the development team was not concerned with GTA 6's release, Atari acknowledged being "certainly aware of the proximity" to Rockstar's title. The publisher felt that the temporal distance between the two releases, along with the distinct nature of Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered and the upcoming Barbie Rewind, would allow both games to find their respective audiences. An Atari spokesperson noted that the fan-generated content and excitement surrounding the co-release of Godzilla and Barbie had become a "fun event."

Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered is scheduled to release for PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S on November 3. Barbie Rewind is slated for release on November 12, 2026, across multiple platforms including PC, Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. A PC demo for the Godzilla game is also scheduled to be available on October 15.
