GOG Enters Game Publishing with Retrovibe Partnership

GOG is officially entering the game publishing arena through a new partnership with Retrovibe, an independent publisher co-founded by GOG's original co-founder, Michał Kiciński. The initiative, dubbed 'Retrovibe by GOG,' aims to support independent developers in bringing their games to various PC storefronts and consoles.

This move marks a significant step for GOG following its separation from former owner CD Projekt and its return to Kiciński's stewardship. The publisher's role will encompass crucial aspects of game release, including providing funding, managing marketing efforts, engaging with content creators and media, and overseeing the certification process for console releases.

The collaboration between GOG and Retrovibe is a natural fit, given GOG's established focus on preserving and distributing older games, and Retrovibe's commitment to titles that evoke a classic gaming essence. Kiciński's co-founding stake in Retrovibe facilitated a smoother integration, allowing the two entities to leverage their respective strengths. The announcement highlights Retrovibe's publishing expertise combined with GOG's platform knowledge, marketing capabilities, and global player connections.

Retrovibe by GOG has already announced its first two titles. The first is Cop Bastard, a retro-style first-person shooter that features a distinctive aesthetic. It is set to release on October 29. The second title is Project Warlock: Lost Chapters, the latest installment in the boomer shooter series.

Notably, both Cop Bastard and Project Warlock: Lost Chapters will be available on multiple platforms, including Steam, indicating that the Retrovibe by GOG initiative is not exclusive to GOG's own storefront.
