Going Medieval Adds Diplomacy and New Favors in Latest Update

Going Medieval has received a new update focused on diplomacy, allowing players to engage with the 12 NPC factions in more meaningful ways. Even though the game has been out of early access since March, developer Foxy Voxel is still actively adding content and features.

The diplomacy system enables players to send caravans to neighboring NPC settlements to request favors. These requests can range from securing basic resources and protection for your own caravans to receiving offensive or defensive support, or even acquiring rare items. The nature of the boon received depends on the player's relationship with the faction, the current state of their own settlement, and the contents of the caravan.

However, these favors are not one-sided. Players must reciprocate by providing something in return. This could involve delivering livestock, clearing out bandit camps, fighting alongside the allied settlement, or lending them one of your own settlers. Only one diplomatic deal can be active at a time, and a new one can only be initiated once the current one is concluded.

In addition to player-initiated diplomatic offers, non-hostile factions may now send their own envoys. These envoys arrive with specific requests that players cannot influence, but they can choose what to offer in return. This introduces a quest-like element where players undertake tasks for other settlements.

The update also includes the ability to hire specialists for tasks like farming and tailoring, as well as the option to pay mercenaries for combat assistance. Beyond diplomacy, the update introduces faction-specific resources, changes to regional markets, new events, and various quality-of-life improvements and bug fixes.
