Grand Theft Auto 5 Becomes Rick and Morty Simulator with New Mod

One Grand Theft Auto 5 player has embarked on a daily mission to alter the game, aiming to either transform it into a PC version of Grand Theft Auto 6 or break it entirely. The latest endeavor involves recreating the world of Rick and Morty within Los Santos.

While admitting to never having watched an episode of the popular animated series, the modder installed the "Rick, Two Crows, and Morty" mod for Grand Theft Auto 5. This mod introduces several elements inspired by the show, including a customizable boy character, laser guns, a flying saucer vehicle, and black hole-generating "poké balls." The player also noted that other mods, such as one that turns GTA 5 into a Pokémon Go experience, are installed.

Upon activating the mod, the player character, Trevor, is transformed into a Rick-like figure complete with a lab coat and t-shirt. The mod allows for the summoning of various elements from the show, though the player found the flying saucer vehicle difficult to control, only managing to make it ascend and descend. During one instance of using the black hole "poké ball" in a bar, a notification informed the player that "The American People have been wiped out," highlighting the game's inherent chaos amplified by the new mods. The player also described encountering a tornado consuming furries while a bodyguard was drawn to the black hole and stuck to an external wall.

The author of the mod, Josh, has been a gamer since childhood, with early experiences including Quake 2. His writing has appeared in publications such as Vice, Fanbyte, and the Financial Times. He has written extensively on a wide range of games, from visual novels to the Assassin's Creed series, with a particular fondness for CRPGs, immersive sims, and ambitious, low-budget titles. He believes that Deus Ex: Invisible War is unfairly criticized.
