Rockstar Games has announced that a special presentation titled Grand Theft Auto 6: An Extended Look will premiere on Netflix on Thursday, August 27. This event is described as a deeper dive into the upcoming blockbuster, rather than a standard trailer.
Grand Theft Auto 6: An Extended Look will be available to stream on Netflix at 12 p.m. Pacific / 3 p.m. Eastern / 8 p.m. UK. For those without a Netflix subscription, the content will also be released on YouTube six hours later, at 6 p.m. Pacific / 9 p.m. Eastern on August 27, or 2 a.m. UK on August 28.
Netflix has enabled subscribers to set reminders for the event via its platform. The program listing states, "Coming August 27: See an extended look at Grand Theft Auto 6, the next evolution the Grand Theft Auto series." Netflix described the partnership with Rockstar Games as "first-of-its-kind," noting that the collaboration signifies "the next generation of storytelling and content on Netflix."
Brandon Riegg, Netflix's VP of Nonfiction Series, commented on the significance of Grand Theft Auto reveals becoming "cultural moments." He expressed honor that Rockstar Games chose Netflix to debut this part of the Grand Theft Auto story, seeing it as a reflection of Netflix becoming a platform for ambitious storytelling across mediums.
With Grand Theft Auto 6's launch approaching on November 19, anticipation for more gameplay footage has been high. This extended look is expected to provide actual gameplay, following two previous trailers and a recent batch of screenshots released in June. The release of Trailer 2 occurred nearly 500 days prior, in May 2025, at which point it still featured the game's earlier release date.
Recent promotional activity for Grand Theft Auto 6 has also included the opening of preorders, with the game's cover art revealed in June. Analysts have weighed in on the game's $80 price point and its potential impact on the industry. Controversy has also arisen regarding Rockstar's decision to make Grand Theft Auto 6 a digital-only release, with some retailers reportedly refusing to stock it.
