Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to release on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The game will return players to Vice City, a parody of Miami, Florida, featuring its characteristic beaches, palm trees, and local wildlife. This entry in Rockstar's acclaimed series will be an open-world, third-person action game where players can engage in vehicle theft, engage in shootouts with law enforcement, and more.

Grand Theft Auto 6 will be available in a standard edition for $80 and a Deluxe edition for $100. The Deluxe edition includes exclusive cosmetic items such as weapon skins and clothing, access to in-game stores not available in the base game, and content related to enemy gang hideouts. This pricing structure and the inclusion of additional content behind a higher price point have reportedly drawn some criticism from players.

Pre-orders for the game are currently open. While a physical release is planned, it will consist of boxes containing a download code rather than physical discs. Details on whether a true physical disc version will ever be released remain unknown.

Rumors and leaked gameplay suggest that Grand Theft Auto 6 may feature two playable characters, Jason and Lucia, a criminal couple. Players are expected to be able to switch between these characters on the fly, similar to the protagonist system in Grand Theft Auto V. The game is anticipated to offer a wide array of vehicles, including cars, helicopters, planes, trucks, jet skis, speedboats, motorcycles, and more. While not all vehicles may be operable, the selection is expected to be extensive.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is part of the series' HD universe, which began with Grand Theft Auto IV and includes Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online. This distinguishes it from the PS2-era 3D universe in which the original Vice City was set.

Rockstar Games has stated that Grand Theft Auto 6 is currently a "single-player experience." However, speculation persists regarding the possibility of future online multiplayer components, either through post-launch updates or a separate, future title set in Vice City. The game is also expected to potentially include a first-person mode, a feature present in Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2.

Grand Theft Auto 6 will not be available on PC at its initial launch. Historically, Rockstar has released its flagship titles on consoles first, with PC versions typically following at a later date, potentially in 2027. Grand Theft Auto Online is not expected to be shut down following the release of Grand Theft Auto 6 and will likely continue to receive updates, especially if Grand Theft Auto 6 omits a multiplayer mode.
