Rockstar Games is set to premiere an extended look at its upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer exclusively on Netflix, a novel approach for a video game's promotional material. The trailer will later be made available on platforms like YouTube.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick indicated that this move represents Rockstar "trying new things" in marketing the highly anticipated title. While Zelnick did not disclose specifics about the deal, he suggested that the exclusive Netflix debut is intended to showcase the extended trailer. The benefits for Netflix are clearer, likely aiming to attract new subscribers, but the advantages for Rockstar remain to be fully detailed, beyond a potential financial agreement.

This exclusive window is reportedly set for six hours before the trailer becomes widely accessible. Zelnick expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, recommending Netflix subscriptions and stating, "I'm sure you're going to watch it because everyone is."

While Zelnick remained tight-lipped about the content of the extended trailer, it is presumed to offer a more in-depth look at gameplay, rather than being solely a visual montage. Grand Theft Auto 6, scheduled for release on November 19th, is widely considered the most significant video game event of the year. Its impending launch has already influenced release schedules, with other major titles either launching earlier in the year or being pushed to 2027 to avoid direct competition.

Zelnick has been particularly vocal in the lead-up to GTA 6's release. He recently shared his views on the industry's shift towards game streaming, noting that over 90 percent of Take-Two's sales are digital. He also addressed concerns that the dismissal of union-aligned developers by Rockstar might impact Grand Theft Auto 6's sales, suggesting it would not affect the game's commercial performance.
