Rockstar Games has officially confirmed the pricing for Grand Theft Auto 6, with the standard edition set to retail for $79.99. This marks a price increase from the typical $70 cost for AAA titles.
The game will also feature an Ultimate Edition priced at $99.99. This premium version will include a "collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and action around every corner," with bonus items being unlocked throughout gameplay rather than at the start. Additionally, any player who pre-orders GTA 6 or purchases it before November 20 will receive the Vintage Vice City pack. This cosmetic bundle for protagonists Lucia and Jason includes the ’55 Vapie Stainier car, various clothing and hairstyle options, a tropical weapon pattern, and one month of GTA Plus subscription benefits.
Pre-orders are slated to begin on June 25. While the Vintage Vice City pack will remain available at launch on November 19, the primary incentive for early pre-ordering, beyond the ability to preload the game starting November 12, is the month of GTA Plus. Players will have ample time to assess game reviews and performance before deciding to purchase and still secure the Vintage Vice City cosmetics.
Physical media enthusiasts may be disappointed to learn that Grand Theft Auto 6 will not be released on disc. Instead, the physical edition will contain a download code within the packaging. However, the physical copy will be available on store shelves a week earlier than the digital release, allowing those who opt for the code-in-a-box version to also begin preloading on November 12.
The reason for the digital-only disc release remains unclear, though the game's potential massive file size is a likely factor. Current generation consoles have disc capacities of up to 100 GB, and with titles like Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and Baldur's Gate 3 already utilizing multiple discs, Grand Theft Auto 6 could potentially exceed these limits.
According to official game descriptions on PlayStation and Xbox, Grand Theft Auto 6 will launch as a single-player experience. The status of Grand Theft Auto Online, which was developed alongside Grand Theft Auto 5 and has remained popular for over a decade, is currently uncertain. Rockstar has not yet detailed whether a new iteration of GTA Online will accompany Grand Theft Auto 6 or if the existing service will receive future updates.
Rockstar has also released over 60 new screenshots showcasing the game's visual style, featuring customization options for Lucia and Jason, various vehicles, and environmental shots. The game is confirmed for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, with no current announcement regarding a PC release, a platform that has historically received ports at a later date.
Despite previous delays, Grand Theft Auto 6 is currently scheduled for release on November 19, 2026. This date has been in place since last November, following earlier windows of Fall 2025 and May 26, 2026. Barring unforeseen circumstances, the game is expected to launch in under five months.
