Grand Theft Auto VI Preorders Now Live, Detailing Standard and Ultimate Editions

Preorders for Grand Theft Auto VI have officially opened, offering fans the chance to secure their copy of the year's most anticipated video game ahead of its November 19 launch. The game will be available in two editions: a Standard Edition priced at $80 and an Ultimate Edition for $100. Both editions are slated for release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Grand Theft Auto VI introduces dual protagonists for the first time in the series: Jason, a former Army veteran, and Lucia, an ex-convict. The narrative follows their journey through the Florida-inspired state of Leonida, involving a statewide conspiracy that unfolds after a botched bank heist. The game features a vast map encompassing new areas like the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, and Port Gellhorn, alongside a return to Vice City. Players will have the ability to switch between Jason and Lucia, with Lucia marking the franchise's first playable female protagonist.

Physical copies of Grand Theft Auto VI will include a download code rather than a physical disc. Digital preorders are also available on the PlayStation Network and Xbox marketplaces, with the game being pre-loadable starting November 12.

Preorder Bonuses and Editions

All preorders for either edition of Grand Theft Auto VI will include the Vintage Vice City Pack. This bonus content features the '55 Vapid Stanier retro sedan, the Ocean Beach garage, vintage-style outfits and hairstyles for Jason and Lucia, and weapon patterns inspired by Tommy Vercetti. Digital preorders additionally grant a free month of GTA+, which includes a $500,000 in-game currency bonus and access to classic Rockstar titles through the GTA+ Games Library. It is important to note that this subscription will auto-renew unless discontinued.

The Standard Edition costs $80.

The Ultimate Edition, priced at $100, expands on the base content by including exclusive premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and story-driven elements. Specific inclusions for the Ultimate Edition are detailed as follows:

  • Vehicles: '95 Grotti Cheetah, Jason's Safehouse vehicles (Dinka Enduro motorcycle and Crest kayak), the '67 Vapid Dominator Buggy, and the Shitzu Squalo boat. It also includes the Paradise Garage in Watson Bay and the Classic Car Collection.
  • Modkits: Jason's Vapid Ganado low-riding pick-up truck is included.
  • Weapons: Hawk and Little Morgan Revolvers, alongside personalized variants of Jason's Girardi ES9 pistol and Lucia's Klose K17 pistol.
  • Cosmetics: Exclusive outfits, tattoos, and additional Goodtime Gear for both protagonists.
  • In-Game Shops: The Ultimate Edition provides access to exclusive customization shops, including Rideout Customs and One-Eyed Willie's for vehicle modification, Sara's Unisex Salon for hairstyles, Stock 305 for unique clothing, and Electric Fang Tattoo for custom tattoos.
  • Other: An Illegal Goods Store, PTT Youngin$, located in a Gang Compound is also accessible for acquiring unique items.

While specific development costs have not been publicly disclosed by Rockstar or Take-Two Interactive, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick indicated to Business Insider that the game was "very expensive" to produce. Industry analysts have estimated the development cost to be as high as $1.5 billion, potentially making it the most expensive video game ever created.
