Grand Theft Auto VI is set to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S with a base price of $79.99. This marks a departure from the $70 price point that had become standard for many new-generation console games, including Take-Two's own NBA 2K21, which debuted at that price in 2020. The publisher is thus breaking the $70 price barrier previously established for premium titles.
Alongside the standard edition, a Grand Theft Auto VI: Ultimate Edition will be available for $100. This premium version will offer an exclusive assortment of vehicles, weaponry, and attire intended to enhance the experience of playing as dual protagonists Jason and Lucia. The Ultimate Edition also includes access to the "Vintage Vice City Pack," a collection of items inspired by the 1980s setting, and a complimentary month of GTA+.
Take-Two has indicated that the GTA+ subscription service will provide access to the "ever-evolving world of GTA Online" and also include a library of other classic Rockstar titles. The phrasing suggests that a new iteration of GTA Online may not be immediately available at the launch of Grand Theft Auto VI.
Analysts had previously anticipated that Rockstar Games might command prices as high as $100 for Grand Theft Auto VI, citing the escalating costs of game development. While the $80 price point is higher than any single game previously launched on the current console generation, it falls short of the highest speculative figures. The decision to increase the price comes at a time when new console hardware, such as the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, can cost up to $600, a significant investment for players looking to experience the game.
