Grand Theft Auto VI will feature an extensive ecosystem with over 170 animal species inhabiting its world, Leonida. Rockstar Games is aiming for a faithful recreation of Florida's diverse wildlife, including native, exotic, and invasive creatures.
The game's environment will host animals across land, air, and sea. Players can expect to encounter familiar Florida fauna such as flamingos, manatees, pelicans, and alligators. The game will also include non-native species like green iguanas, cane toads, feral cats, and rhesus macaque monkeys.
Rockstar is expanding on its previous work, notably from the Red Dead Redemption series, by implementing advanced visual systems for animals. These include detailed fur and feather rendering, alongside effects like iridescence, bioluminescence, and translucency.
Furthermore, Grand Theft Auto VI will allow players to track specific animals categorized as Rare, Discoverable, and Legendary. The identities of these more elusive creatures remain undisclosed. More details on the game's wildlife and other features are available in Game Informer's exclusive cover story.
