Actor Robert Bogue, known for his role as Steve Haines in Grand Theft Auto V, has shared his disappointment with Rockstar Games, stating he auditioned for more than 60 roles in Grand Theft Auto 6 but received no callbacks. Bogue detailed his experience in a recent conversation with Anderson Burak via Instagram.
Bogue had previously enjoyed his time working with Rockstar on Grand Theft Auto V. However, he felt ghosted by the studio concerning Grand Theft Auto 6, despite multiple attempts to secure parts both major and minor. "I must have auditioned for more than 60 roles—some major, some minor. I didn’t care how big the role was; I just wanted to be in the game," Bogue said. "I didn’t get any of them, and I never even heard back about a single one. Honestly, that was pretty discouraging."
The actor speculated whether Rockstar Games might have an unofficial policy against reusing actors for different roles across their titles, a practice fans have often observed. This speculation arose as he found it difficult to comprehend being rejected so many times without even landing a smaller part or receiving any communication from the company.
Interestingly, Bogue himself is an exception to this perceived pattern. He previously voiced Red Harlow, the main character in Red Dead Revolver, and Troy in the Grand Theft Auto IV DLC, The Ballad of Gay Tony. This history makes his recent experience with Grand Theft Auto 6 auditions particularly disheartening for him. "So yes, there’s definitely some disappointment and resentment," Bogue stated, adding that his knowledge of the game is limited to script excerpts he saw during his auditions.
