Grand Theft Auto V has long been criticized for lacking a feature present in its predecessor, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas: a functional jetpack. Now, one player has taken it upon themselves to rectify this perceived oversight by installing a jetpack mod.
This new mod, titled "Aerowing - Wearable Jet Pack & Weapon System," allows players to equip a jetpack that offers aerial traversal and offensive capabilities. Upon activation, the mod features an animation where the character strikes a pose before ascending into the sky. The jetpack includes a speedometer to track flight speed and can fire three different weapons: an SMG, a plasma weapon, and another weapon described simply as "tube," which appears to function identically to the SMG.
The installation process, however, was not without its difficulties. The author reported that the initial attempt to launch the game after installing the mod resulted in a PC crash, followed by a game crash upon a second attempt before the game finally launched successfully.
The author notes that the mod, while providing a "rollocking good time," occasionally conflicts with other installed modifications, such as a street golfing mod. Despite these minor issues, the addition of the jetpack brings GTA V closer to the experience offered by San Andreas, a game the author regards highly, referencing John Gillespie Magee Jr.'s poem "High Flight" to describe the sensation of flying through the game's world.
