A recently released mod for Grand Theft Auto V aims to replicate the enhanced wanted system hinted at for Grand Theft Auto VI. This mod, dubbed 'VI Wanted System,' introduces mechanics where law enforcement agencies consider a player's physical description and attire when attempting to apprehend them.

The system's implementation means that simply breaking line of sight is no longer sufficient to escape police pursuit. Players must actively change their appearance, such as their clothing or hairstyle, to avoid being identified and apprehended. This adds a layer of complexity to evading law enforcement, requiring a more thorough approach to anonymizing oneself within the game world.

Initial testing of the mod demonstrated its effectiveness, with the in-game police quickly logging the player character's description and the expensive clothing they were wearing. However, the chaotic nature of Los Santos, with its ongoing gang warfare and ambient hit squads, sometimes distracted authorities, allowing for initial escapes despite the accurate descriptions.

Attempts to evade pursuit by ducking into a clothing store proved unsuccessful, as the store apparently refused service to a character accompanied by armed officers. This forced the player to find alternative means to change their appearance, eventually leading to a visit to a barber for a haircut, a change that did seem to have a minor effect on the police's ability to identify the character later.

Further testing involved standing directly in front of a police station without hiding the character's equipped weapon. While the police did not recognize the player despite their previous actions, they reacted to the visible shotgun, leading to an immediate confrontation and the player character's demise. This outcome was considered a success for the mod's objective of introducing more persistent and descriptive police recognition.
