Grand Theft Auto V has received a new mod that introduces a realistic winter snowfall to the game's Los Angeles-inspired setting of Los Santos. The mod, named WinterV Beta, aims to make the game's weather more dynamic and visually interesting.

Players can now experience flurries falling from the sky, with cars appearing covered in a sheen of powder. The mod also alters the world's lighting to give it a "sickly, ochre hue," which the creator notes is reminiscent of real-life Los Angeles. While the mod adds a significant visual change, its impact on vehicle handling is not assessable due to existing issues with car handling in the modder's specific game build. Nevertheless, the snow significantly alters the game's atmosphere.

The creator, who has been actively modding GTA 5 daily with the goal of transforming it into a PC version of GTA 6 or causing it to break, plans to take a break from daily updates. Los Santos Customs will be unavailable for a week as the modder recovers from an illness acquired at Gamescom 2026. Normal operations are expected to resume the week after, with continued efforts to evolve the game.
