One of the many ongoing experiments in modding Grand Theft Auto 5 involves giving vehicles the flair of James Bond with functional ejector seats. Following an incident where the author was trapped in a miniature taxi, the need for a swift escape mechanism became apparent.
A mod named 'Eject' has been implemented, offering players the ability to exit their vehicles with a press of a button. The mod's description states it allows for ejecting and parachuting, but in practice, the descent is often a rapid fall rather than a controlled landing.
The default settings for the mod were found to be relatively weak, with a "Force" setting of 150. Increasing this value significantly, up to 10,000, provided more dramatic ejects. Attempts to reach 100,000 resulted in the game crashing upon launch.
While the mod doesn't perfectly preserve momentum for complex maneuvers like mid-air vehicle transfers, it successfully enables players to launch themselves from moving vehicles. The author considers the mod a mixed success for its ability to facilitate such dramatic exits, even if the subsequent landings are less graceful. The implementation allows for a unique, albeit chaotic, method of navigating the streets of Los Santos.
