Grand Theft Auto V has gained a new layer of everyday functionality thanks to a mod that introduces working hot dog vendors. The mod allows players to purchase hot dogs from street vendors, restoring a feature that was present in Grand Theft Auto IV but absent in its successor.
The modder, who chronicles their daily GTA 5 modifications, discovered that Rockstar Games likely intended for this functionality to exist, drawing parallels to its implementation in GTA 4. The vendors now accept in-game currency, with a hot dog costing five dollars. These purchases provide a minor health boost to the player character, mirroring real-world effects.
Adding to the chaotic nature of modded GTA 5 experiences, the hot dog vendor mod can be combined with other gameplay alterations. For instance, when coupled with a random teleportation mod, players might find themselves instantly relocated to the Vinewood sign immediately after purchasing their snack. The mod also humorously notes that even in such extreme circumstances, like bodyguards materializing and then plummeting to their deaths nearby, the hot dog consumption process remains uninterrupted.
The creator expressed hope that Grand Theft Auto 6 will feature a more complete and immersive hot dog purchasing experience, given the substantial resources dedicated to its development.
