A dedicated Grand Theft Auto V player has managed to revive their heavily modded game after it became unlaunchable. The extensive modding efforts, which have aimed to transform the decade-old title, eventually led to the game refusing to launch, even in windowed mode. After a period of troubleshooting that included graphical adjustments, the player resorted to deleting random files from the game's directory, which ultimately restored functionality.
Following this near-disaster, a new mod has been implemented: TornadoV. This mod introduces massive tornadoes into the Los Santos environment. Players can configure and spawn these tornadoes using in-game keybinds, with F5 for configuration and F6 to spawn them. This poses a minor inconvenience, as F6 is also the keybind for enabling noclip mode, meaning the player now summons a twister when attempting to fly freely around the map.
The addition of these tornadoes adds a new layer of chaos to the game's already tumultuous world. In-game footage shows the character Franklin being affected by the storms. The developer notes that in the context of a game frequently experiencing explosions and general mayhem, the presence of migrating whirlwinds often blends into the existing chaos.
The author's ongoing project involves daily modding of Grand Theft Auto V with the goal of either recreating Grand Theft Auto 6 or breaking the game entirely. Updates on this endeavor are posted daily.
