One persistent Grand Theft Auto V modder has taken it upon themselves to transform Rockstar's decade-old title into a superhero playground, drawing a parallel to the anticipated GTA 6 and the classic PS2-era game, The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction.
Inspired by the immense hype surrounding Grand Theft Auto 6, the modder's daily quest involves altering GTA 5 on PC. The latest endeavor adds the "Superman V" mod, which bestows characters with abilities such as laser eyes, super speed, freeze breath, and the power of flight. This transformation prompts a shift away from firearms, as players can now opt to incinerate vehicles and freeze law enforcement with their gaze.
The mod allows for destructive interactions with the game's environment and its inhabitants. Players can set cars ablaze with heat vision, halt pursuing police officers with freeze breath, and subject NPCs to prolonged exposure to X-ray vision. Flight is also an option, though the modder notes that it can occasionally lead to characters tumbling uncontrollably through the sky.
The sheer number of mods installed has led to a complex control scheme, with various function keys summoning different mod menus. This situation raises concerns for the modder about the potential for their own ability to control the game to be compromised as more modifications are added.
