Jerry Fort, a fan whose heartfelt wish to live long enough to play Grand Theft Auto VI went viral on TikTok, has died. His family confirmed on October 29 that Fort passed away due to complications following a lung transplant surgery. He was 25 years old.

Earlier this year, Fort shared a video from his hospital bed expressing his hope to play the upcoming Rockstar Games title. The video gained significant traction, amassing millions of views and eliciting widespread support, with many urging Rockstar Games to fulfill his wish. His family had initiated a GoFundMe campaign for a lung transplant, which surpassed its initial $15,000 goal, raising over $100,000.

Fort and his sister provided regular updates on his condition, with his progress appearing to improve at times. He underwent lung transplant surgery in September. Despite his fight against an infection that developed post-surgery, and his decision to decline hospice care, he ultimately succumbed to the complications.

Following the viral spread of his plea, Fort posted a video expressing gratitude for the support and promising to stream GTA VI upon his recovery, framing it as a community goal.
