Following leaks of Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay, which showcased a nudist resort populated by uncensored characters, fans have identified and inundated the real-world location that inspired the in-game setting. The resort, Cypress Cove in Kissimmee, Florida, has reported that individuals are posting fabricated reviews referencing game elements and subsequently demanding payment for their removal.

Online Reviews Under Siege

The leaks revealed player character Jason Duval interacting with numerous nude resort guests, and later, a scene involving the use of binoculars to zoom in on other characters. In the wake of these leaks, players reportedly located Cypress Cove and began posting reviews that incorporated these specific details. According to GamesRadar, this has led to confusion and distress for the resort's management and legitimate patrons.

Google reviews for Cypress Cove, which normally highlight amenities like its golf course, tennis courts, and bar, have seen an influx of posts referencing GTA 6 characters and scenarios. Resort owners have posted responses attempting to clarify the situation for genuine customers, noting the disruptive nature of these fake reviews.

Demands for Payment

Cypress Cove has issued a public statement detailing the extent of the issue, describing the reviews as "SPAM / EXTORTION REVIEW." The statement clarifies that references to "Jason Duval," "Lucia," binoculars, firearms, and other similar details are indeed connected to Grand Theft Auto VI. The resort has stated that these fabricated posts were followed by requests for money to have them changed or removed.

In their response, Cypress Cove addressed the perpetrators directly, stating, "We appreciate the commitment to the GTA storyline, but Cypress Cove is located in Florida—not Leonida." They firmly declared, "We will not pay. We will not negotiate." The resort confirmed that they have documented the reviews and extortion attempts and are reporting the activity through the appropriate channels. They concluded by emphasizing that these posts do not reflect genuine guest experiences and that their marketing budget does not include funds for "internet ransom."
