GTA 6 Features a Dedicated Sweat System to Enhance Realism

Rockstar Games is pushing the boundaries of detail in Grand Theft Auto VI with a newly revealed system designed to meticulously simulate character sweat. This level of granular realism aims to further enhance the immersive experience, a hallmark of the developer's previous titles like Red Dead Redemption.

According to reporting, the game features a scripted system that dynamically adjusts the amount of sweat generated by characters, including protagonists Jason and Lucia, based on their in-game actions. For instance, a character dancing vigorously in a nightclub will sweat more than one performing less strenuous activities. Similarly, characters engaged in physical exertion, such as working out, will exhibit increased perspiration.

This attention to detail is cited as a contributing factor to the game's extensive development time, estimated at eight years of dedicated work, and its considerable budget, positioning it as potentially the most expensive video game ever produced. To achieve this level of fidelity, Rockstar reportedly established a new studio in Los Angeles staffed with writers, producers, and directors focused on NPC development.
