The individual or group behind the high-profile Grand Theft Auto VI leaks, operating under the name Cyberleek, has reportedly released another unauthorized gameplay video. This latest leak is said to contain footage from the game's final missions, raising significant spoiler concerns among fans. In a new message, Cyberleek has declared "the end of the road," signaling an apparent conclusion to their efforts following the collapse of their associated cryptocurrency scheme.
Cyberleek had previously tied various gameplay leaks to the market cap of a memecoin they promoted. Leaks, including clips that allegedly showed protagonist Lucia fully naked and close-up character renders, were released as certain financial targets were met. The leaker also threatened to release a substantial build of GTA 6, estimated to be over 200GB, if the memecoin reached a $30 million market cap.
However, the cryptocurrency project failed to achieve its goals. The memecoin's market cap has fallen significantly from its peak, making the $30 million target practically unattainable. With the crypto scheme's collapse, Cyberleek stated that the anticipated 200GB build of GTA 6 will not be released, as the funding milestone was not met. They described the memecoin as a "donation" rather than an "investment" and defended their actions against allegations of being a crypto scam.
In their latest message, Cyberleek claimed that while the newest leak does show clips from the game's concluding missions, they do not spoil the overall story when viewed out of context. Nevertheless, many fans have expressed frustration and are taking measures to avoid online spoilers. Cyberleek also mentioned having a "dead man's switch" for story spoilers, which they have threatened to activate if they feel endangered.
Fans had been vocal in urging others not to financially support Cyberleek, citing analysis that suggested the leaker had already cashed out approximately $270,000 in August. Prior leaks included alleged footage of characters Jason and Lucia fully naked, sparking skepticism due to the apparent lack of NPC reactions, leading to speculation that these scenes were achieved through a developer menu or cheats, rather than being indicative of the final game.
Rockstar Games previously addressed the leaks in August, calling the situation "heartbreaking" for the development team and "unfortunate" for players, acknowledging that the intended experience might be impacted by spoilers. The game is still officially slated for release on November 19.
It remains unclear how the gameplay footage was obtained, given Rockstar's stringent security measures. Take-Two Interactive has reportedly pursued legal avenues, including issuing subpoenas to entities like Discord and seeking information from Microsoft, in an attempt to identify those responsible for the leaks.
