The individual or group known as Cyberleek, responsible for some of the earliest and most significant leaks of Grand Theft Auto VI information, has re-emerged with a new 24-minute gameplay video. This latest release has reignited discussions and prompted fans to issue spoiler warnings across the internet.
The video, titled "GTA 6: An Extended Leek," reportedly showcases numerous cutscenes, reveals more about the game's protagonists Jason and Lucia, and features a first-person camera perspective during driving sequences. Notably, the footage includes instances of full-frontal nudity for Jason. The video also appears to utilize a developer menu, enabling the spawning of vehicles like a tank, which suggests the build shown may not reflect the final game's intended player experience.
Cyberleek had previously gone quiet following a series of extensive GTA 6 leaks in August, which led to an investigation by Rockstar's parent company, Take-Two Interactive, including the issuance of subpoenas. The reappearance of Cyberleek and the release of this new footage raises questions about how such a substantial build of the game was obtained and exfiltrated from Rockstar's typically secure development environment.
Following the August leaks, Rockstar Games acknowledged the situation, describing it as "heartbreaking" for the development team and "unfortunate" for players. The company stated that the intended player experience might be impacted by spoilers, while reaffirming the game's release date of November 19.
Cyberleek has previously stated that their motivation for leaking GTA 6 material was to highlight concerns about the decline of physical media and its impact on game ownership. The leaker also engaged in activities where fans could pay cryptocurrency to vote on further leaks, a practice widely perceived as a means of financial gain. The latest video concludes with a message hinting at a new, unrelated gaming project requiring significant hardware and long-term investment, for which Cyberleek is seeking financial support. Details regarding the nature and scope of this project remain vague.
This new activity follows reports in late August that indicated Cyberleek had potentially profited significantly from the leaks, with cryptocurrency transactions suggesting earnings of around $270,000. The leaker had consistently directed fans to a website where they could use a custom cryptocurrency to influence the release of additional leaked content.
