The individual known as Cyberleek, responsible for leaking significant amounts of Grand Theft Auto 6 material, has adopted a defensive stance against Take-Two Interactive. In a message preserved from their now-defunct website, Cyberleek declared they possess the game's ending and have activated a "dead man's switch," which would release story spoilers if they are targeted by Take-Two.
This strategy mirrors that of fictional characters facing inescapable situations, where a threat of mutual destruction is used as leverage. Cyberleek's message states, "The ending stays unpublished. Proof: the latest leek—clips from the final missions, out of context, revealing nothing. The dead man's switch is active—story spoilers only. Left alone, it never fires. Whoever removes CL chooses it."
The leaker claims they would refrain from releasing the ending to avoid ruining the experience for players, framing their actions as a response to Take-Two's perceived lack of mercy. Cyberleek also addressed their cryptocurrency demands, clarifying that they were intended as donations and not investments, and denied any rugpull had occurred. They further explained that they would not release a full build of GTA 6 because their memecoin market cap did not reach the specified $30 million.
It remains to be seen whether Cyberleek's threat will deter Take-Two, a company known to pursue legal action against those who leak or infringe on its intellectual property. The effectiveness of such a threat is also limited by the inevitable release of the game itself, after which the value of ending spoilers would diminish significantly. Cyberleek's leverage, if it exists, has a limited shelf life, and Take-Two is likely pursuing the matter with urgency.
