The individual or group known as Cyberleek, responsible for the recent widespread leaks of Grand Theft Auto 6 assets, has issued a manifesto detailing their motivations and future intentions. According to a statement, Cyberleek intends to persist in targeting publishers until Rockstar Games and its parent company, Take-Two Interactive, issue a public apology and commit to improving their practices, which the group labels as "anti-consumerism."
The manifesto criticizes industry trends such as selling licenses instead of outright purchases, releasing incomplete games marketed as "living services," locking content already present on game discs as DLC, and discontinuing games while retaining revenue. Cyberleek expressed a commitment to combating these practices, stating that "every year anti-consumerism tightens its grip, and every year gamers get less for what they pay."
Cyberleek also revealed it is raising funds for a "secret project" through the sale of a memecoin. These funds are intended to support the infrastructure for future actions, as well as security measures to guard against corporate retaliation. The group has outlined three core "commandments" for publishers: no digital preorders, no singleplayer DLC that was part of the original game data, and mandatory offline fallback states for singleplayer titles. Violators, according to Cyberleek, will face sanctions, with the group vowing "Cyberleek will not stop until they issue a public statement and apology with a concrete commitment to be better."
While the manifesto's dramatic tone and the use of cryptocurrency fundraising have been noted, the group's actions appear to be gaining traction. Rockstar and Take-Two have reportedly been actively issuing copyright strikes against the leaked material, a response that suggests the authenticity of the leaks. The Grand Theft Auto 6 leaker's ability to follow through on their threats remains a significant question, but with the game slated for a console release in three months and a significant reveal planned for next week, the situation could potentially escalate.
Take-Two and Rockstar have not yet issued a public comment regarding these demands or the leaks.
