GTA 6 Leakers Threaten Playable Build Leak If Cryptocurrency Hits $30 Million Market Cap

A hacker group calling themselves Cyberleek, responsible for a series of leaks concerning Grand Theft Auto VI, has escalated their actions by demanding cryptocurrency donations to potentially release a full playable build of the game. The group stated that if their cryptocurrency reaches a $30 million market cap, they will release the entire story mode, complete with credits.

Cyberleek recently shared approximately 25 minutes of gameplay footage, which included a notable look at co-protagonist Jason. In a statement, the group outlined their terms, asserting that they would provide proof of the full story mode if requested and that Take-Two Interactive has a single recourse: to issue physical discs and a public apology. They also presented the possibility of the company gambling on their bluff.

It remains unclear whether Cyberleek possesses a functional playable build of GTA 6. While they have demonstrated access to game footage, the claim of having a complete build could be a bluff. The demand for financial gain through cryptocurrency suggests a motive beyond simply exposing the game or seeking a resolution with the publisher. The stated demand for physical discs and an apology also raises questions about the practicality and true intent behind the group's actions.

Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive are unlikely to meet these demands. Given the immense anticipated success of GTA 6, the potential damage from a leak is unlikely to outweigh the corporate value of protecting their brand identity. Furthermore, the technical barriers to running an unreleased, potentially unoptimized build of the game, especially for users without high-end PC specifications or console access, present significant obstacles for any widespread playability.

The situation adds another layer of controversy surrounding the highly anticipated title ahead of its official release. GTA 6 is slated for a console release in 2025, with no PC release date announced yet.
