Grand Theft Auto VI players have identified a potential discrepancy in the game's lore related to the Hawk & Little Morgan Revolver, an item included in the $100 Ultimate Edition. The revolver's description states it was "sourced exclusively from the Vercetti Estate," implying it originated from Tommy Vercetti's mansion in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. However, this has led to fan speculation due to Rockstar Games' previous statements about the separation of game universes.

In a 2011 Q&A, Rockstar clarified that the PS2-era games exist in a different universe from the "HD games" (Xbox 360 era and onward). This distinction means major characters from the older titles are not expected to appear in the newer ones, with exceptions for minor background figures like Lazlow. "The 'universes' are the worlds interpreted at different definitions, 2D, 3D, and high definition, so we felt brands and radio/background characters would exist in both, but three-dimensional characters would not," Rockstar explained, emphasizing that characters from GTA 3, for example, would not exist in the GTA 4 universe.

Given this lore separation, the reference to the Vercetti Estate is most likely an Easter egg or a deliberate nod to the franchise's history rather than a genuine mistake. Similar to how Grove Street and the Ballas gang appeared in Grand Theft Auto V without necessarily confirming the presence of CJ and his crew, the Vercetti Estate's mention could be purely nominal. This is further supported by other references to Tommy Vercetti in GTA 6's marketing materials.

The second GTA 6 trailer features a painting of a lizard wearing Tommy's distinctive shirt, and weapon skins available as pre-order bonuses mimic his shirt's pattern. The trailer also offered a glimpse of a character who appears to be a younger, fully-limbed Phil Cassidy, originally from Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. This new iteration of Phil seems to be in his 30s or 40s and owns a gun store, a stark contrast to his likely 70s appearance and different circumstances in Vice City. These elements suggest Rockstar may be intentionally playing with its established lore, potentially introducing new versions of familiar characters or simply integrating fan-service Easter eggs. It is possible a new version of Tommy Vercetti could appear in GTA 6, mirroring Phil Cassidy's updated presence, or these could all be playful references without deeper narrative implications.

In other GTA 6 news, Rockstar Games has confirmed the game will retail for $80 and will not be released on physical discs. The developer also released over 60 new screenshots showcasing customization options, vehicles, and weapons. While future plans for GTA Online remain undisclosed, a store page description refers to the title as a "single player" experience. Grand Theft Auto VI is slated for release on November 19th for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5.
