GTA 6 Mechanic Named After Iconic GTA 4 Meme

A beloved meme originating from Grand Theft Auto IV has been integrated into Grand Theft Auto VI as a core gameplay mechanic. As revealed in a new preview by Edge magazine, players will be able to summon their vehicle through a new app called "Scooter Brothers."

The origin of the meme dates back to 2008 when a streamer named Brad Simons, on the now-defunct Justin.tv channel FourPlayerPodcast, encountered another moped rider in Liberty City and famously declared them "scooter brothers." The humorous encounter became a widely shared clip, amassing over 7.5 million views on YouTube.

In GTA 6, the "Scooter Brothers" app will function by having an NPC deliver the player's car. This NPC will then depart on a scooter, presumably driven by another "brother." While it remains to be seen if these NPCs will deliver any iconic lines from the original meme, Rockstar is continuing a tradition of referencing the meme, having previously included a nod to it in GTA V when players switched to Trevor.

This new mechanic offers players a way to call their vehicle in single-player, a feature not previously available without cheats in GTA's single-player campaigns. This is a notable addition, especially considering that important gear and weapons are stored in the vehicle's trunk in GTA 6, suggesting cars may be less disposable than in prior installments. GTA Online and Red Dead Redemption have offered similar vehicle summoning features, but this marks the first integrated single-player implementation for the Grand Theft Auto series.

The confirmation comes as Rockstar ramps up its global marketing efforts for GTA 6, with the game's launch approaching. Rumors also suggest a PC version is planned for an early 2027 release.
