Grand Theft Auto VI is reportedly slated for a PC release in the first quarter of 2027, according to a report from GamesBeat citing anonymous sources. This potential release window would place the PC version only a few months after the game's expected launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S in November 2026.
Historically, PC releases for Grand Theft Auto titles have often followed their console debuts after a significant delay. For instance, Grand Theft Auto V took nearly two years to arrive on PC after its initial console launch. This latest report suggests a considerably shorter gap for GTA 6.
The PC release may coincide with the debut of Grand Theft Auto VI's multiplayer component, which some fans have unofficially dubbed "GTA Online 2." While Rockstar has not officially confirmed details about a new online mode, Twitch CEO Dan Clancy indicated last month that a multiplayer offering for GTA 6 was anticipated to launch next year.
When questioned about the prospect of a PC version of GTA 6, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has frequently offered non-committal responses, emphasizing Rockstar's approach. In previous statements, Zelnick has highlighted Rockstar's strategy of prioritizing console releases to serve the core player base first. This approach has been consistent with past titles such as Red Dead Redemption, GTA 5, L.A. Noire, Max Payne 3, and Red Dead Redemption 2, all of which launched on PC after their console premieres.
Despite the console-first strategy, Zelnick has also acknowledged the growing importance of the PC market, noting in past interviews that the industry is trending towards a more open platform ecosystem. The PC version of GTA 6, should it arrive as reported, is expected to offer enhanced performance capabilities for players with sufficiently powerful hardware, although official details on console performance remain unconfirmed.
