Grand Theft Auto VI has received a PEGI 18 age rating, with the Pan European Game Information board's website detailing extensive depictions of violence, drug use, and sexual themes. The rating comes just one day after the game received an ESRB "M for Mature" rating.
According to the PEGI description, players will control criminals Lucia and Jason Duval as they become entangled in a criminal conspiracy in Vice City. The game's violence is described as bloody with a high degree of realism, capable of detailed decapitation and dismemberment with certain weapons. Drug use is noted as frequent and prominent, with players able to consume illegal substances directly from their inventory. Notably, cocaine can be "snorted directly from their hand at any time."
The rating also touches on strong sexual themes, including nudity, intercourse, and occasional scenes of sexual fetishes. The description mentions that players can engage with dancers in private clubs, with the ability to interact with them.
Further details from the PEGI rating indicate that domestic animals can be harmed, though not with the same level of detail as human characters. The game also features prominent use of strong language, with the word "fk" appearing frequently and "ct" occasionally. Discriminatory language may also be heard on in-game radio channels and television programs. The rating also notes the presence of in-game purchases, although it was previously reported that Rockstar would not include microtransactions or generative AI at launch.
While PEGI has since removed the specific age rating page from its website, users have shared images of the listing online. Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to launch for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on November 19, 2026.
