Grand Theft Auto 6 is offering players two distinct pre-order editions: the Standard Edition and the Ultimate Edition. While both include a month of the GTA+ subscription service, the Ultimate Edition provides a significantly larger amount of cosmetic and customization content.

The Standard Edition of GTA 6 is priced at $79.99/£69.99. Pre-ordering this version grants players the Vintage Vice City pack, which includes a 1955 Vapid Stanier vehicle and a cosmetic weapon pattern inspired by Tommy Vercetti's iconic attire. This pack also adds specific outfits and hairstyles for the protagonists, Jason and Lucia. However, the Standard Edition offers fewer customization options compared to its more expensive counterpart, which is a point of contention given the series' emphasis on player expression through personalizing vehicles, clothing, and properties.

The Vintage Vice City pack's inclusions feature the '55 Vapid Stanier for cruising and the "Exclusive Weapon Pattern" for most firearms. The outfits are described as "Dress for excess with Jason’s effortlessly chic linen suit in vintage pastel" and Lucia’s "red sequin mini dress and curls." This pre-order bonus is intended to mitigate some dissatisfaction with content locked behind higher tiers, though it is expected to be available for individual purchase post-launch.

The Ultimate Edition Upgrade

For $99.99/£89.99, the GTA 6 Ultimate Edition bundles everything from the Standard Edition, plus the "Ultimate Edition upgrade." This upgrade unlocks a wealth of additional features and content aimed at enhancing the in-game customization experience. The Ultimate Edition boasts access to all customization features throughout Vice City, including unique vehicles, garages, weapon variants, and exclusive activities and vendors. IMAGE2

Among the vehicles included are the Performance '95 Grotti Cheetah, the Ganado Retro Build pickup truck, and the Shitzu Squalo. Owners of the Ultimate Edition will also receive the '67 Vapid Dominator Buggy and its associated garage, along with specific vehicles for Jason's Safehouse, such as a Dinka Enduro motorcycle and a Crest Kayak.

Weaponry receives unique cosmetic treatments in the Ultimate Edition, with "His and hers" versions of the Hawk & Little Morgan Revolver featuring Vice City stylings. Personalized sidearms for Jason's Girardi ES9 pistol and Lucia's Klose K17 pistol are also part of the package. The "Vice City Style" includes exclusive outfits, tattoos, and other cosmetic items, alongside the "Goodtime Gear" collection inspired by a local TV show character.

Beyond cosmetic items, the Ultimate Edition provides access to several unique activities and specialized vendors. The "Classic Car Collection" questline allows players to find and restore abandoned project cars. Players can also engage in the "Ptt Youngin$ Compound" raid for special items and raid the compound of a Southside Vice City gang. For vehicle customization, "Rideout Customs" offers extensive modifications, while "One-Eyed Willie's" specializes in off-road tuning. IMAGE1

Personal grooming and style are also enhanced, with "Sara's Unisex Salon" offering signature styles for both protagonists, and "Stock 305" providing elevated streetwear options. "Electric Fang Tattoo" features over 50 signature tattoos designed by the artist collective FAILE.

Rockstar is making it clear that many of the features present in the Ultimate Edition, such as specific vehicle and character customization options and specialized vendors, are absent from the Standard Edition. The significant amount of content included in the $20 upgrade suggests that much of it could arguably have been part of the base game. Players are advised to consider their purchase carefully, as it is expected that many of these Ultimate Edition-exclusive items may become available for separate purchase later on.
