GTA 6 Release Sparks Surge in Time-Off Requests, Report Suggests

Grand Theft Auto VI's imminent release has reportedly led to a substantial rise in employee time-off requests, with one HR software company observing an increase of between 9% and 17% for November 19. The data, gathered by BambooHR and reported by Money.com, suggests that many workers are planning to take leave on the third Thursday of November, a spike that coincides directly with the highly anticipated launch of Rockstar Games' latest title.

Economists have projected a potential $1 billion loss in productivity in the United States due to the game's release, underscoring the massive cultural and economic event anticipated. With a high level of anticipation, GTA 6 is expected to achieve one of the largest entertainment launches in history.

Rockstar Games has engaged in extensive marketing campaigns leading up to the release. These efforts include a large neon pink sign installed atop the Miami Heat's arena and in-universe advertisements across the city. Additionally, fans in Miami have the opportunity to patronize a real-life iteration of Burger Shot, a fictional fast-food chain from the GTA universe.

The promotional activities extend to a unique NBA game between the Miami Heat and the Milwaukee Bucks on November 18. The Miami Heat will be rebranded as the "Vice City Heat" for this game, playing on a specially designed Vice City court and wearing GTA 6-themed jerseys. This event is positioned as a significant final marketing push for the game.

Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for release on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. A PC version is also rumored to be in development for early 2027. Xbox Series X/S
