GTA 6's PS5 Install Size Allegedly Reaches a Staggering 210 GB

Grand Theft Auto VI is set to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on November 19, and new reports indicate its installation size will be substantial. According to PlayStation Game Size on X, which monitors the PlayStation Store backend for upcoming releases, Grand Theft Auto VI will require approximately 210 GB of storage space on PS5. This figure is significantly larger than previous Rockstar Games titles, including Red Dead Redemption 2, which recommended 150 GB on PC and occupied 89.20 GB on PS5. For comparison, the PC version of Grand Theft Auto V requires 105 GB, with the PS5 enhanced edition also taking up 105.3 GB. The reported 210 GB for GTA 6 is more than double the space needed for its predecessor on current-gen consoles. This colossal file size comes at a time when storage is already a concern due to the ongoing memory supply crisis. The report also suggests that players can begin pre-loading the game on November 12, a week before its official release. While the PC release date for Grand Theft Auto VI remains unconfirmed, rumors suggest it could arrive as early as Q1 2027, though some predictions point to a later release in November 2027. The sheer volume of the GTA 6 download is so immense that it could theoretically store approximately 3500 copies of the popular indie game Balatro, or 6000 copies of Animal Well, highlighting the scale of Rockstar's ambitious undertaking.
