Rockstar Games fans are already turning to eBay scalpers for Grand Theft Auto 6 pre-orders, despite the game's impending digital-only release and the fact that physical editions simply contain download codes. Listings for pricier versions of the highly anticipated title began appearing on the auction website shortly after pre-orders went live on June 25.

While the standard edition of GTA 6 is priced at $80, some listings show successful sales for around $90, with others going for even more. This phenomenon, common in the gaming industry, is particularly notable given the 13-year anticipation for this release. However, there are readily available options to secure the game at its retail price without engaging with inflated costs.

Rockstar Games has confirmed that GTA 6 will be a digital-only title for its November launch, a decision that may disappoint physical game collectors. For those who prefer a physical box, these editions will still be available but will contain only a download code within the case. This effectively removes concerns about stock shortages, as all versions will be accessible digitally.

Even the supply for the physical boxes appears stable, with major retailers such as Amazon, Best Buy, and Target listing code-in-box copies for pre-order. Despite these options, a notable number of players and scalpers continue to engage with eBay.

The eBay listings reportedly include both physical boxes and digital copies. Sellers advertising digital versions note the absence of shipping fees, while purchasers of physical copies through eBay face delivery costs on top of the elevated price. Regardless of the purchasing method, GTA 6 is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Reports indicate that Rockstar has no plans to ever release a disc version of the game.
