A new PlayStation 5 advertisement, part of Sony's "It Happens On PS5" campaign, has drawn attention for featuring footage from Grand Theft Auto VI that appears to have undergone minor visual modifications. The minute-long video includes brief clips of the highly anticipated title, and eagle-eyed viewers have noted several distinctions from the original trailer released in May 2025.

One observed change is the removal of letterboxing, the black horizontal bars often seen in cinematic footage, from a scene depicting a character, Jason Duval, holding onto the back of a convertible while the protagonist, Lucia, drives. This particular sequence was present in Grand Theft Auto VI's second trailer. The PS5 ad presents the scene in a full-screen aspect ratio.

Beyond the framing, the scene also appears slightly brighter in the PlayStation commercial. Additionally, subtle alterations have been noted in Lucia's facial features. Her eyebrows seem less pronounced, and her hair color registers as browner, though these changes could be attributed to the altered lighting conditions within the ad.

It is common for video game development to involve continuous refinement, and these minor discrepancies are likely part of Grand Theft Auto VI's ongoing development process. Further alterations may surface when Rockstar Games releases the "Extended Look" trailer for the game on Netflix on August 27.

The game is slated for release on November 19. The new PS5 commercial also briefly highlights other upcoming titles, including Marvel's Wolverine and God of War: Ragnarök.
