Fan anticipation for a third trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI has been unmet, as Rockstar Games launched preorders for the title without releasing new video content. Last week, Rockstar revealed the game's cover art and announced that preorders would commence on June 25. Many had speculated that a third trailer would debut around this time to build hype and encourage preorders.
Instead of a new trailer, Rockstar shared a collection of new screenshots that offer additional details about the game. This follows the release of Trailer 2 in May 2025, which still displayed an outdated release date that has since passed. The absence of an updated trailer alongside the preorder launch has led to disappointment among the community, with some fans expressing their frustration on social media platforms.
Players noted that for any other studio, the lack of gameplay footage this close to launch might raise concerns about the game's development status. However, the immense popularity of the Grand Theft Auto franchise leads some to believe it may not require traditional marketing efforts. Despite this, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has emphasized the importance of consumer engagement prior to release, comparing it to the marketing strategies employed in the film industry.
It remains unclear when the next trailer will be released, but there is a strong desire among fans for a look at actual gameplay rather than further story-focused previews. The next major marketing push might coincide with a GTA Online update planned for July, potentially delaying any new GTA 6 trailer content until then. It is possible that Rockstar may opt to reveal gameplay directly, bypassing a third trailer entirely.
Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to launch on November 19 for Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. The standard edition will retail for $79.99, with the Ultimate Edition priced at $99.99 and including various cosmetic items, weapons, and access to specific in-game content. Notably, a physical disc version of the game will not be available at launch.
