Grand Theft Auto VI will offer players a diverse array of side activities, extending gameplay far beyond the central narrative of protagonists Jason and Lucia. Recent previews and an extended trailer released in August 2026 have detailed numerous optional engagements, ranging from high-octane pursuits to more leisurely pastimes. This information is based on pre-release material and is subject to change before the game's November release.

Players can expect to engage in various forms of racing, including street races, dirt-bike competitions, and arena-based races. For those seeking aerial thrills, base jumping and sky-diving will be available. Water-based activities include kayaking, jet-skiing, scuba-diving, and fishing, with images showing groups of characters enjoying time on the water.

On land, players can participate in mini-golf and pool, visit strip clubs, nightclubs, and bars, and even engage in backyard wrestling. The trailer also showcased more personal interactions, such as petting, scolding, or studying dogs, with the latter potentially being a nod to Red Dead Redemption 2's collection mechanics. Feeding stray animals is another noted interaction.

Fitness and competitive activities include visiting gyms for weight-lifting, which can be done with a partner, and playing basketball. Jason is shown playing basketball in the GTA 6 Extended Look.

More unconventional activities include driving electric scooters in a Lime-bike style, target practice at shooting ranges, and even gambling. For a more covert approach, players can spy on neighbors and other non-player characters.

Lucia is shown taking part in weapon target practice in the GTA 6 Extended Look.

Players will also have access to airboating and a seemingly interactive social media experience, described as "doomscrolling social media."

While this list represents the known side activities based on current previews, Rockstar Games may introduce additional content before Grand Theft Auto VI's official launch.
