GTA 6 Will Feature 170 Animal Species

Rockstar Games has revealed that Grand Theft Auto VI will feature an extensive ecosystem, boasting a total of 170 confirmed animal species. This diverse wildlife will populate the game's world, known as Leonida, which includes urban and rural environments, swamps, and aquatic areas.

Michael Kane, Rockstar's vice president of dynamic art, stated that the development team aimed to faithfully represent Florida's varied animal life. "The animal art and population teams are incredibly passionate about delivering animals that are accurately researched and look visually correct in every respect, alongside the supporting movement and animation to bring them to life," Kane told Game Informer.

Of the 170 species, over 60 will be birds, and more than 30 will be land mammals. The game will also include a variety of fish and reptiles, and players will have the opportunity to visit at least one zoo.

Thus far, confirmed land animals include beavers, boars, bobcats, cane toads, domestic and feral cats, cougars, deer, several dog breeds (Chihuahua, Doberman, German Shepherd, Rottweiler), iguanas, monkeys, nine-banded armadillos, otters, raccoons, snakes, and squirrels.

The aquatic life confirmed for GTA 6 comprises alligators, dolphins, eels, fish, jellyfish, manatees, sea turtles, sharks, and whales.

Players can also expect to encounter various birds, such as ducks, eagles, flamingos, cranes, pigeons, pelicans, seagulls, spoonbills, storks, and woodpeckers.

Rockstar is reportedly keeping many species under wraps, with the currently revealed list containing around 50 animals, leaving more than half yet to be officially confirmed. The final game is expected to include a significantly larger number of creatures than what has been shown so far.
