GTA 6 Will Feature an 'Advanced' Weather System

Grand Theft Auto VI is confirmed to feature an "advanced" weather system, sparking speculation about the inclusion of tropical storms and hurricanes. Game Informer revealed the detail in its cover story, which promises a deep dive into the game's mechanics.

The upcoming title is set in Leonida, a fictionalized version of Florida. The magazine's preview suggests that Rockstar Games is looking to simulate "less sunny weather phenomena" unique to the region. This has led to significant fan discussion about the potential for dynamic weather events like hurricanes to impact gameplay and the open world.

While details remain scarce, the inclusion of such complex weather systems would represent a significant technical undertaking. Previous Rockstar titles, such as Red Dead Redemption 2, featured dynamic weather including intense storms with lightning, thunder, and wind, as well as snow and dust storms in specific environments. It is anticipated that GTA 6's weather system will build upon these advancements, aiming to create a more immersive and potentially challenging world for players.

Game Informer's full cover story is set to go live on September 29, at which point more information regarding the game's weather simulation and other features is expected to be revealed.
