While the game, set to launch in spring 2027, initially drew concern due to its focus on fighting giant monsters—a departure from traditional Gundam themes for some fans—a newly unveiled model kit has captured attention.
The HG 1/144 Bau Bahlam, a model kit incarnation of a mobile suit that will appear in Gundam Rogue Orbit, was revealed as part of the 2026 All Japan Model & Hobby Show. This reveal has significantly influenced perceptions of the game, particularly among enthusiasts of Gundam model kits.
The Bau Bahlam's design exhibits several notable features. It is a mono-eye suit, a characteristic often associated with formidable mobile suits in the Gundam universe, drawing parallels to the classic Gouf. Most striking is its weapon: a chainsaw macuahuitl. The macuahuitl, a historical Mesoamerican sword-like weapon, is reimagined with one side replaced by a chainsaw. The model kit even includes a mock pull-cord, allowing it to be posed as if revving the weapon's motor.
